McTavish is currently retained by the BC Ministry of Forests (BC MOF) to provide ongoing environmental support for 1) forestry service road (FSR) operations and maintenance and capital projects associated with flood recovery and repairs from the winter 2021 damage to BC MOF DCK infrastructure.

Involvement

Under this contract, McTavish has provided environmental assessment, environmental permitting and regulatory support under Paragraphs 34.4(2)(b) and 35(2)(b) of the Fisheries Act and Section 39 (2) of the BC Water Sustainability Regulation (WSR), and environmental services during construction including development of site-specific management plans, fish and wildlife surveys/salvages, environmental monitoring including water quality, and environmental inspection. Further, McTavish has supported the BC MOF DCK stakeholder engagement with rights holders and Indigenous Communities during consultation.

Works assessed and completed to date under this contract include 30 sites and include the following types of construction activities with instream/near stream works.  

  • Bridge installations, including scour protection with instream impacts 
  • Channel realignment and habitat enhancement/ complexing  
  • Culvert removals and installations  
  • Bank revetment  
  • Road maintenance, deactivation, and new road construction
