Lower Mainland System Upgrade Project (LMSU)
Sector: Oil & Gas
Client: FortisBC
Location: Lower Mainland BC

Involvement

FortisBC required environmental consulting in BC to restore riparian and private lands affected by the Lower Mainland System Upgrade. McTavish prepared final planting plans for all riparian areas and delivered full turnkey restoration services, from plant supply to final site restoration.

Project Overview

This project included the supply and installation of native plants for riparian areas and restoration of all private lands affected by pipeline construction. McTavish worked as part of the lands and restoration team with FortisBC managers, engineers, biologists and land agents responsible for site restoration and landowner liaison.

Key Tasks

Through this work, McTavish supported FortisBC in delivering effective site restoration and ensuring all lands were responsibly returned to their pre-construction condition.

A hillside covered in green hydroseed, next to a sidewalk, with a yellow warning sign for a high-pressure gas pipeline on the left. Power lines and utility poles are visible in the background. A construction site with exposed dirt and straw erosion control blankets, bordered by a metal railing. Nearby are houses, trees, a black barrier, and power lines overhead on a cloudy day. Two people in safety vests and helmets stand near a wet, muddy area with young plants and water under power lines. Trees and mountains are visible in the background under a clear sky. A construction site with earth-moving equipment and large pipes, surrounded by trees and frosty ground under a clear blue sky. Erosion control materials and logs line the cleared pathway.
A construction worker in a yellow vest walks up a steep, freshly graded dirt road toward a bulldozer near the top, with a house and power lines visible on the left side under a clear blue sky.
A worker in a safety vest and helmet sprays green hydroseed mulch on a sloped, rocky embankment near a residential area to help control erosion and establish new grass.
Construction site under power lines with an excavator, a steamroller, and workers leveling dirt. Trees and grass surround the area under a blue sky with scattered clouds. A car is parked on a nearby road.
